The study is carried out from a gender perspective and highlights the intersectionality of cultural aspects. LATILMA focuses on testimonies by people from the Andean countries, due to their important presence in Italy, and the collection of “migrant memories” is carried out both in Italy and in places of origin of the Andean migrant community, with the objective of reconstruct a “circular” narrative of migration. The project thus aims to highlight an image of the migratory experience that involves places of departure and includes cultural ties between the countries of origin of the migrants and Italy.
In this way, it delves into the cultural impact of migration both in places of origin and those of arrival, going beyond the vision of migration as a "linear" process but also of idea of "center" and "periphery" at a cultural level.
In the second part of the project, in Italy, the testimonies collected cultural and artistic works (stories, poems, biographies, videos and video-performances) will be published as an open access and multimedia online anthology.
