Summary
We met Pamela Ortega in Milan, in February 2024. From her first trips to Italy to her choice to stay in her mother's home country, from poetry to working as a floral designer, Pamela told us about her relationship with Italy. The interview began in Italian and continued in Spanish; we decided to respect this natural linguistic desplazamiento and transcribe the conversation in a bilingual version. Pamela Ortega was educated in the Chile of the dictatorship but was then able to deepen her multiple artistic interests in Italy.

Presentation of Pamela Ortega
Pamela Ortega is a Chilean poet and Floral Designer. Born in Santiago de Chile, she came to Italy through her mother, thanks to whom she was able to give her family a better life. In Chile, Pamela studied marketing and international cuisine and took courses for women micro-entrepreneurs. In Italy, she studied Floral Design at the Politecnico of Milan. Her passion for poetry, which she has nurtured since childhood, led her to write and publish three books: Denudati, a collection of twenty-four previously unpublished poems produced in collaboration with three Peruvian authors, De amor y sin razones and Una extensiòn de mi sentir. During the pandemic, she started to dedicate herself to interviewing Latin American artists, in order to give visibility to their work and to promote Latin American culture and literature internationally. Today, Pamela lives in Milan, where she continues to dedicate herself to floral art.
