Betina Lilian Prenz was born in La Plata, in the province of Buenos Aires, in 1968. In 1975 she was forced to leave Argentina with her family and move to what is now the former Yugoslavia. In 1979 they moved to Trieste, where Betina still lives. After receiving her PhD in the Philosophy of Language from the Ca' Foscari University of Venice in 2002, she began teaching Spanish Language at the University of Trieste and later also in Udine and Rome. In addition to teaching, she devotes herself to writing short stories and literary translation, especially poetry. In May 2014, she won an award at the Turin International Book Fair for her short story Viavai, which was runner-up in the 9th edition of the National Literary Competition “Lingua Madre”. In the same year, she participated in the “Achille Marazza” National Prize for Poetic Translation with the translation of Delmira Agustini's works. In 2019, her first novel, Morte con lode. La prima indagine di Sara Katz, has been released.
