Elena Ritondale – Principal investigator LATILMA

Elena Ritondale holds a PhD in Spanish Philology and is a post-doctoral researcher at the University of Rome “La Sapienza”. She was a member of the working groups of the projects “Pedagogías de género. Educación, literatura y cultura en México (siglos XIX-XX)” of the IISUE-UNAM, and “Condición de extranjería. Escritoras latinoamericanas, entre América y Europa, en el siglo XXI”.

Her main research lines are border studies, the literary representation of violence, the literature of migration, and literature and gender studies.

Stefano Tedeschi – Supervisor
“La Sapienza” Università di Roma
He graduated at the University of Rome “La Sapienza” with a thesis on Francisco Javier Clavijero. He obtained his PhD in American Studies from the University of Rome “Roma Tre” with a thesis on the reception of Spanish-American literature in Italy in the second half of the 20th century.
Since 2001, he has worked at La Sapienza, where he is currently Professor of Hispanic-American Language and Literature. Since 2008, he has taught several courses in Hispano-American Literature and Spanish Translation, as well as animating the “Officina di Traduzione Letteraria Ispanoamericana (OTLI)”, founded in 2003 by Rosalba Campra.
He participates in various research groups in Italy, Spain and several Latin American countries (Mexico, Guatemala, Cuba).
He has written numerous essays and articles for national and international academic journals, following different lines of research, including the representation of the Aztecs in Mexican literature, 18th century literature, the relationship between literature and cinema, the analysis of translations and the reception of Hispanic-American literature in Italy.
He has translated books by Gonzalo Celorio, Antonio Benítez Rojo, Juan José Arreola, Alfonso Reyes, and poetry collections by David Rosenmann-Taub, Elsa Cross and Gloria Gervitz.
Together with Mayerín Bello, he edited the volumes “Al abrigo del tiempo que me arrasa. Eliseo Diego en su centenario” (2021), a collection of essays by various specialists on the Cuban poet, accompanied by a translation of a wide selection of Diego's poems, and the anthology of contemporary Cuban short stories “Mosaico Insulare. Modi e verbi della narrativa cubana contemporanea” (2023).

Eduardo Jaime Huarag Alvarez

E.J. Huárag (Lima, Peru, 1949). Professor at the “Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú”. He holds a PhD in Literature from the PUCP and a Master's Degree in Communication from the “Universidad Internacional de Andalucía”. His publications include “Mitos de origen” (2011) and “Pensamiento mítico en la narrativa latinoamericana” (2013). As a writer, his novel La Barca (2007) received positive feedback from critics and was translated into French (2023) by Marie Madeleine Gladieu under the title Débarcadére. He also published La montaña sagrada (2016) and El increíble asalto en la Estación del cielo (2018). He was a visiting professor at the University of Milan (2017) and the University of Bonn (2018).
